Located within St. James’s Hotel & Club in Mayfair, one of London’s most affluent neighbourhoods, is the recently renovated Michelin-starred restaurant, Seven Park Place by William Drabble. This is the perfect place for a celebratory lunch or dinner. Papapreneurs can take their loved ones, for an experience but under 12’s need not apply!

Seven Park Place is an intimate and stylish Michelin-starred restaurant, created by Executive Head Chef William Drabble and re-launched in 2019 in collaboration with Russell Sage Studios, taking inspiration from the Art Deco period with stylish updates throughout.

In 2011, Seven Park Palace was awarded a Michelin star only one year after opening and has maintained it each year since then. The restaurant has also been awarded four AA Rosettes every year since 2012.

William, known as ‘Billy’, is one of the capital’s best-loved chefs and has created his own inimitable menu, influenced by classic French cuisine but made using the very best British produce.

Drabble, who prides himself on his excellent supplier relationships, particularly loves to cook with the freshest lobster and Lune Valley lamb, both of which can be found on his menu all year round, with varying seasonal accompaniments.

The menus change seasonally and feature the ‘Best of British’ produce. Every menu receives the same care and attention to create the finest culinary experiences. Drabble’s philosophy is to retain the natural aroma and taste of the best ingredients available.

For Papapreneurs that want a closer look at each dish on this tasting menu, here you go.

Here are some of Minipreneur’s favourite picture books this month.

Not Yet, Zebra by Lou Kuenzler & Julia Woolf

This is one of Minipreneur’s favourite bedtime picture books – especially now he’s excited about the alphabet, singing the ABC song, recognising different letters and even reading car number plates when we’re out and about! This picture book brings the alphabet to life in a totally new and inventive way with a very cheeky Zebra that just has to be involved! Minipreneur is a big fan of Lou Kuenzler and loves the colourful illustrations by Julia Woolf.

The Longer the Wait, the Bigger the Hug by Eoin McLaughlin and Polly Dunbar

This is a charming and touching new tale from the creators of While We Can’t Hug – the bestselling picture book that was read by Mr Tumble on CBeebies Bedtime Stories during lockdown. Minipreneur loves this new story featuring Tortoise and Hedgehog who are here just in time to help kids through our continued challenging times.

What Happened to You? by James Catchpole & Karen George

This is the first-ever picture book addressing how a disabled child might want to be spoken to and was read by JJ Chalmers on CBeebies Bedtime Stories in August 2021. The picture book helps educate young readers and their parents on how to address difference – something I’ve just started to discuss with Minipreneur now he’s almost 3. This book also speaks directly to disabled children to try to offer them acknowledgement, guidance and reassurance.

What’s in the Truck by Philip Ardagh & Jason Chapman

A surreal, brilliantly original picture book featuring a truck-driving dog-prince and a series of vehicles that reveal themselves one-by-one Russian-doll style. It’s a great book to teach Minipreneur about transport and the names of different vehicles.

The Rapping Princess by Hannah Lee & Allen Fatimaharan

This is a completely original rhyming picture book that celebrates daring to be different – a topic that Minipreneur’s mummy wrote about in her article for the Daily Mail. Written by Hannah Lee, the book features glorious illustrations by Allen Fatimaharan inspired by rapping ‘queens and princesses’ of our time such as Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce.

Here are some of Minipreneur’s favourite picture books for World Book Day.

Poo Poo, Bum Bum, Wee Wee by Stephen Cowell & Erica Salcedo

Featuring bright, friendly illustrations and a very catchy rhyme, this fun picture book has been written in consultation with parents to break down all the stages of using the toilet into easy steps.
When potty training Minipreneur, this book really helped take the stress out of the toilet training experience. I love books like this that provide a helping hand to grown-ups, and make potty training fun for children as they can sing the song and learn to use the toilet without fear or fuss.

Jack and the Giant Tantrum by Louis Growell & Chris Jevon

Minipreneur knows that he’s safe and loved even when throwing the biggest loudest tantrum but this brand new picture book, the first in a series, can help grown-ups deal with the tricky behaviours of tantrum-prone toddlers. This book will help young children learn to control their temper and contains a list of coping methods for tantrums at the back of the book.

100 Birds by Michael Whaite

Minipreneur loves books written in rhyming text so 100 Birds by author & illustrator Michael Whaite is a firm favourite at storytime. This hilarious picture book is a rip-roaring read-aloud guide to 100 different feathered friends. With stylish yet accessible illustrations with broad appeal, the book is full of endless funny details,  silly scenarios, and a rare bird to spot, making it a joy to read again and again.

Peter Rabbit: Head Over Tail by Rachel Bright & Nicola Kinnear

Complete with charming illustrations from Nicola Kinnear and a text full of humour and heart from Rachel Bright, this picture book heralds a new direction for Peter Rabbit that respects Beatrix Potter’s legacy and celebrates the essence of her creations whilst delivering a story for modern parents that’s full of scrapes, adventure, and trademark quick-thinking by our blue-jacketed hero. Minipreneur loved his Peter Rabbit Advent Calendar from Charbonnel et Walker last Christmas so this book was a no-brainer when looking for something new to add to our storytime routine.

We’re Going to Find the Monster by Malorie Blackman & Dapo Adeola

Join two intrepid adventurers as their imaginations transform their home into a wild wonderland – and their big brother becomes a mighty monster! A joy to read aloud, full of funny, relatable characters, this is a contemporary celebration of creativity, fantasy and family. I love reading books featuring contemporary characters to Minipreneur so he gets an early introduction to diversity.

Don’t forget the frites – so good you have to take at least 2 sets according to Minipreneur.

Here are some highlights from the dinner at the W/A restaurant. The oysters were beautifully fresh.

Healthy salad options are available

However, I couldn’t resist the waffle burger. I chose mine plain but you can have all the glorious toppings to bring out more complexity in this inspired dish.

If waffles aren’t your thing, then you can’t go wrong with their steak – succulent, flavourful, and perfectly seasoned.

For those preferring a lighter meal, we loved the salmon which is perfect for lunch

However Minipreneur jumped straight in with dessert, which was so good

absolutely delicious

Gaucho Charlotte Street reopened in February 2022, showcasing Gaucho’s recent evolution in menus and design, inspired by modern Argentina and all its global influences. As the first restaurant in the Gaucho group to serve exclusively carbon-neutral beef, Charlotte Street embodies CEO Martin Williams’ vision for the way restaurants should operate responsibly both socially and environmentally.

The 128-cover venue showcases the restaurant group’s vibrancy, elegance and passion for the cultural and culinary heritage of modern Argentina.

The space includes a ground-floor bar perfect for after-work drinks and casual dining, and a main dining area including many secluded booths, a Beef Bar countertop dining experience, and a 28-cover private dining room and events space.

The à la carte menu, overseen by Culinary Director Mike Reid, features starters such as Shrimp Ceviche and Empanadas.

These are followed by an unrivalled selection of 100% carbon-neutral steaks from Black Angus cattle, bred in Argentina, grazing on 17 different types of grass from the Pampas provinces.

Alongside the steaks, further main courses include the likes of vegan Gnocchi with pumpkin and Swordfish causita.

Desserts feature Gaucho’s take on the traditional Argentine Alfajores.

Unique to the Charlotte Street Gaucho, the Beef Bar offers an intimate chef’s table experience, showcasing an Argentine beef tasting menu (£50pp or £80pp with wine pairing). The four-cover counter allows dishes to be presented to guests directly by the chef, with highlights such as Cuadril Carpaccio and Lomo Tiraditos, culminating in the Gaucho Grill Selection.

The venue also plays host to Gaucho Film Club; a dining and drinking experience where the menu mirrors the storyline, with guests eating and drinking along with the characters of cinematic greats.

The Fitzrovia restaurant represents a major development in the Gaucho brand, and a key moment for the Sustainable Steak Movement, which Williams launched in autumn 2021 to accelerate the transition towards more environmentally friendly beef production.

Following an extensive project, Gaucho has now calculated the carbon footprint of all beef for the restaurants from farm to table and is working with the farmers in Argentina to reduce carbon emissions at source. The remaining carbon emissions are offset through reforestation projects as part of Gaucho’s partnership with Not For Sale. The charity creates long-term, sustainable, scalable solutions to break the cycle of modern-day slavery on their environmental projects in the Amazon, which in turn offsets carbon emissions. To further contribute to Gaucho’s work in carbon offsetting, when ordering any steak, guests can ‘top with a tree’ for £2, which will fund the planting of a sapling in South America.

Offering carbon-neutral beef is just part of Gaucho’s holistic approach to running socially and environmentally responsible restaurants. The brand’s sustainable drinks programme promotes biodynamic, organic and natural wines and sees guests offered many world-class wines on tap, dramatically reducing their carbon footprint.

All Gaucho restaurants operate a zero food to landfill policy and all sites run on 100% renewable energy. By 2030, all Gaucho restaurants aim to be net zero carbon emissions. Gaucho Charlotte represents an integral and exciting part of that journey.

Our favourites from the menu include the scallops

A delightfully fresh prawn cocktail

Those avoiding steak, this crab linguini with a superb cheesy flavour is a fabulous choice.

Also the toppings for the steak are so generous they make wonderful main course for lunch with a side of mac and cheese.

However the real star of the show at any Gaucho is the steak, the fabulous service and the wonderful surroundings.

Here are some of Minipreneur’s favourite picture books this month.

Poppy and Sam’s Favourite Fairy Tales by Kate Nolan & Heather Amery

If you’re a modern parent, like me, you will no doubt be concerned about the gender stereotypes that are perpetuated in the classic fairytale stories where helpless damsels in distress need rescuing by brave princes and knights in shining armour. That’s not the world we live in anymore and we didn’t want to raise Minipreneur with that kind of antiquated view of society. I was therefore very pleased to discover Poppy and Sam’s Favourite Fairy Tales. This illustrated collection of classic fairy tales for very young children is written for a modern audience with Little Red Riding Hood, Rumpelstiltskin, Cinderella, Goldilocks, Sleeping Beauty and the Three Little Pigs. Delightful illustrations are provided by Stephen Cartwright who has left a little yellow duck to spot on every page. Just the right length for toddlers who are ready to move on to slightly longer stories, Minipreneur loves guessing what happens next and saying the next line in the story. Ideal for sharing at bedtime and reading aloud anytime.

Very First Questions and Answers: Why should I get dressed? by Katie Daynes & Marta Alvarez Miguens

We went through a phase where Minipreneur refused to change out of his Love To Dream™ Sleep Suit in the mornings – who can blame him if you’re familiar with the award-winning wearable blanket with legs! However, it’s important to teach little ones about why they can’t wear pyjamas all the time – which is where this book comes in. Filled with flaps, facts and an exciting range of outfits, kids will be inspired to get dressed for the day. From sports kits and superhero costumes to coats and wellies, this delightful book makes getting dressed fun.

Count to Ten and Back Again by Felicity Brooks & Magali Mansilla

I was so excited when Minipreneur learned to count to 10… even more so since he was only the tender age of 2 years old. However, learning numbers is more than simply reciting them in order. To help him gain a complete grasp of the concept of numbers and counting, I reached for this book. Little ones learn to count to 10 by lifting the flaps of this appealing board book to find one bee, two croaking frogs, and many more animals. There’s a little surprise at the end of the book with encouragement to count back down from 10 to zero – a skill that even the cleverest children sometimes find hard to master.

Peep Inside How a Fire Engine Works by Lara Bryan & Caroline Attia

You’ve probably heard me say this one or twice… Minipreneur LOVES fire engines! So I just had to get him this book when I heard it had just been published. It’s an action-packed non-fiction book exploring the inner workings of a fire engine where little ones can peep into the cab, roll out the hoses and slide out the ladder to find out how it works. Truck-obsessed toddlers like Minipreneur will love all the details to spot, flaps to lift and holes to peep through. This book encourages young children to ask questions and builds learning confidence.

I’m Not (Very) Afraid of Being Alone by Anna Milbourne & Sandra de la Prada

Separation anxiety wasn’t something that affected Minipreneur but I know it is common in many young children. If that’s your life right now, then this is the book for you and your little one. Sweetly told from the little girl’s perspective, this story explores that worry in a gentle, humorous way, coming to a comforting conclusion that might help allay any similar fears your little one may have. Beautiful laser-cut doorways and threads of connection illustrate her feelings throughout the book. The little girl and her family are brought warmly to life in the gorgeous, characterful artwork.

As commercial airlines continue to face pandemic-induced turmoil, resulting in cancellations and delays for thousands, an increasing amount of travellers are turning to private aviation. In Q1, the world’s leading aircraft charter broker, Air Charter Service (ACS) saw a 37% increase in private jet bookings, compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

Air Charter Service is an award-winning aircraft charter company providing private jet, commercial airliner and cargo aircraft charters around the world. Founded in 1990, today ACS arranges over 23,000 charter flights per year and employs more than 500 staff across a global network of 28 offices spanning all six major continents. In addition to the company’s flight-only operations, the Travel & Concierge team creates bespoke private jet packages covering all aspects of a luxury holiday, from private jet flights to exclusive accommodation and unique travel experiences.

I was a commercial pilot before I was a father, and I must say for those who can afford it, it really is a good way to travel. A lot of the questions Papapreneurs ask are because they are first-timers. For those thinking about turning to private jet travel, Andy Christie, the brand’s Group Private Jet Director, has answered some of the most important questions about first-time charter.

Andy Christie – Group Private Jet Director at Air Charter Service (ACS)

What are the main benefits of chartering?

Chartering provides an always-and-anywhere travel solution that puts the customer in control of what’s most important to them. Whether it’s avoiding the crowds, reaching a remote location, guarding privacy or allowing time to unwind in style and truly enjoy the journey. A truly personalised travel experience, a private jet charter builds flexibility and comfort into travel plans and prevents any unnecessary stress. It is effectively a time machine, saving hours in airports and allowing you to fly directly to the closest airport to your end destination.

How can I find the right aircraft for my travel plans?

You will be appointed a dedicated account manager who will walk you through the process and provide you with practical advice along with a selection of aircraft best suited to your trip. At ACS we have access to a full range of helicopters, private jets and even VIP airliners, so we can truly cater to each individual’s needs.

Where can I fly from when chartering a Jet?

We have access to more than 50,000 aircraft and over 8,000 airports globally, meaning you’re much more likely to be able to fly from an airport closer to home and land nearer your destination of choice, allowing you to maximise the time you have available and truly make the most of your trip. You also have the flexibility to make changes to your itinerary, if your plans change.

How do I check-in for a charter flight?

Most airports have private terminals and when chartering a jet you’re permitted to use these facilities along with VIP lounges where available, meaning customers can avoid queues and unnecessary delays, typically only having to arrive 20 minutes before departure.

Can my pets fly with me?

A private jet charter is one of the kindest ways to transport your pet from one destination to another, allowing them to fly with you in the cabin avoiding any distress as you get from A to B. It’s important to keep in mind that certain regulations apply when flying to and from the UK with a pet, from providing a pet passport with proof that they’re microchipped to ensuring their rabies vaccinations are up to date, the ACS team are always on hand to answer any queries you have regarding your four-legged companions.

How much luggage is allowed on a private flight?

You can typically travel with more luggage when you fly private than if you were to travel commercially. Your account manager will take your luggage requirements into consideration when selecting your aircraft to ensure there is sufficient space for skis or golf clubs, for example.

Is there an option to offset my flights?

Yes, ACS has a dedicated Environment Team who are continually seeking ways to improve our environment management system and a key part of this is our carbon off-setting programme. All of our customers have the option to offset their emissions, simply let your account manager know upon booking and they will add 0.5% to your charter price, this investment goes into a fund which will be invested in a number of projects, from Hestian Stoves in southern Africa to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by burning less wood, to a wind farm project Indonesia to create clean energy.

What time do I need to get there for a chartered flight?

As I’ve mentioned, chartering provides much more flexibility than flying commercially and, in some cases, you can arrive just minutes before take-off and in many cases drive directly to the aircraft for boarding with no need to even go into the terminal building.

Why should I choose ACS?

We’ve had the privilege of flying people and their precious cargo across the world for more than 30 years, so when travelling with ACS you know you’re in safe hands. Our reputation and buying power within the industry allows us to secure the most affordable private jet rates for you, whilst our global network gives us the local knowledge needed to source you the best available aircraft anywhere in the world, these two factors truly set us apart from our competitors.

So Papaprenuers, is it worth avoiding those stares from passengers without children and to go Private. As can be seen, there are other good reasons to choose to charter, but the decision really lies in whether you could invest the money elsewhere or want to spend it to get a good work/life balance. As always there is no right answer, just the one that benefits you the most.

For Papapreneurs who love pilot watches or who are military aviation enthusiasts, there are few squadrons as influential as the 303 Squadron. Led by Flight Commander John “Kentowski” Kent and equipped with Hawker Hurricanes, the squadron claimed the most victories during the Battle of Britain. To honour their unparalleled achievements, AVI-8 has launched the Hawker Hurricane Kent Automatic with design details drawn from the iconic 303 Squadron.

The Kent Automatic is housed in a traditional pilot’s watch case measuring 43mm in diameter. Finely brushed surfaces provide a utilitarian charm whilst a domed sapphire lens offers a clear view into the dial. Completing the case is a cleanly engraved case back featuring the 303 Squadron emblem.

Impressively balanced, the Kent Automatic’s dial offers a timeless pilot inspired look with Swiss luminous applied indexes and unique details designed to pay tribute to Kent such as his aircraft code stamped at the 6H position and a custom seconds hand counter-balance shaped in the form of his Hawker Hurricane.

Powered by a robust Japanese Miyota 8 series automatic movement, this pilot watch is armed with both reliability and precision. On the wrist, the timepiece wears comfortably courtesy of a premium genuine leather strap with contrast accent stitching.

Each timepiece from the Kent Automatic collection is inspired by locations and stations Kent held commands in over his illustrious career with the RAF – Sussex, Hampshire, Newton and Stanton.

The Hawker Hurricane Kent Automatic Sussex is £235 from AVI-8.co.uk

Located in the heart of historic London, The Westminster is surrounded by the capital’s most famous landmarks: The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey are a stroll away in an area rich with history, home to some of the world’s most legendary authors and political figures.

Like the location at large, The Westminster echoes a lively but intimate setting infused with mystery and curiosity, leaving you with a feeling there’s more than meets the eye.

STK Westminster combines a modern steakhouse and chic lounge with a bustling bar scene, an inspired menu, and a vibed dining atmosphere featuring its very own bowling alley.

The Westminster features uniquely tailored rooms with sublime city views. The expertly designed Queen Rooms offer an intimate and balanced experience. The relaxed, modern and sophisticated feel of the guest rooms offer a generous warm welcome to all of the guests.

As well as your bespoke bed and 4K Ultra HD 49-inch TV, this room’s modern style is enhanced by added extras, including an elegant bathroom with luxury rain shower, bathrobes, and slippers.

If suites are more your style, within the spacious and bright King Junior Suites and King One Bedroom Suite, you can enjoy the extra comfort of a large suite with the same high-end amenities as the Queen Rooms including a generous lounge area with a comfortable sofa bed.

The added touch includes a barista-like experience from the Nespresso coffee machine that you can enjoy within your room throughout the day.

For the ultimate in luxury and boasting incredible views over the River Thames, The Westminster Suite offers the extra comfort of a large room with a separate living area including a dining table and 2 bathrooms.

With two excellent dining options, you’re spoilt for choice whether you fancy a whimsical twist on classical bao at Bao Yum or a contemporary take on classic American cuisine at STK Westminster.

STK Steakhouse is a globally recognized restaurant brand that artfully combines the modern steakhouse and chic lounge into one VIBE DINING experience. STK Westminster offers a dynamic, fine dining experience with the superior quality of a traditional steakhouse.

Dinner at STK Westminster can be had whether you stay at the hotel or not. It is on the first floor and separate to the hotel. A good choice of cocktails with a twist on the classic Old Fashioned on the list. Not Your Daddy’s Old Fashioned is a blend of Japanese Whisky, Cadello 88, Cherry Heering Liqueur, Maple Syrup and Orange Bitters.

Crispy Calamari is garnished with basil and Padron peppers and comes with two different sauces – roasted garlic & lime aioli and Asian chilli sauce. The calamari was lightly cooked, so not too much crunch on this delicate sea creature. The perfect amount of bite and flavour.

Grilled King Prawn on the Specials menu was absolutely gorgeous. If this appears on the menu again, I would definitely jump at the chance to order it.

As one would expect, STK features a nice selection of steaks, but the 300g Wagyu Picanha definitely caught my eye. Served a little rarer than I would like or ordered but delicious nonetheless.

For those who want a meat option but not steak, Roasted Lamb Rack was a scrumptious choice with a pistachio crust and served with heirloom carrots & black garlic.

STK serves three types of Mac & Cheese which all make a great side option but our favourite has to be the Truffle Mac & Cheese.

Those with a sweet tooth are well-catered for with a choice of four delicious desserts on the menu from Hazelnut Chocolate Cake and Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie to Apple Pie and New York Cheesecake.

When it comes to business meetings and corporate events, The Westminster offers a range of unique spaces to suit everything from company brainstorms to intimate dinners and cocktail receptions. The hotel’s events spaces reflect the eclectic rich local history.

Elegant, spacious meeting rooms and event venues with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment are available in addition to intimate private dining rooms providing a unique contemporary and sophisticated dining experience.

The Westminster has also reinvigorated the experience of bowling thanks to The Bowling Alley – a funky exclusive and fully private space that’s perfect for personal celebrations and team-building events alike. Here are some of Minipreneur’s favourite picture books for Children’s Mental Health Week.

Howard the Average Gecko by Wendy Meddour & Carmen Saldana

With so much pressure on children to be special, this story reminds us that you don’t have to be ‘exceptional’ to be loved. It’s an entertaining introduction to camouflaged creatures, which children will be able to spot hidden throughout the book (even if Howard can’t!). This is one of Minipreneur’s favourite picture books at the moment.

Everybody Has Feelings by Jon Burgerman

Located in the heart of Chelsea, opposite the iconic Cadogan Hall, Kahani combines luxe, seductively lit interiors with a high-class, yet inclusive, dining experience. It is perfect for any Papapreneur, but I would be careful of Minipreneurs here, although welcome they do politely suggest to be finished dining by 7 pm with a little one, and also the spice and flavours may not be to all little palates delight. However, it is a must for any adult for sure.

Kahani was set up in 2018 by Peter Joseph, who held a Michelin star at Tamarind for six years, before leaving to set up Kahani. The space is sophisticated yet welcoming with a semi-open kitchen and a cast wine cellar visible behind glass panels.

The main restaurant seats up to 90 people which is overlooked by The Peacock Room, an intimate private dining room that seats up to 14 guests and overlooks the main restaurant. The Peacock Room is perfect for intimate parties or business meetings, and Peter will devise a specially curated menu to suit the requirements of each guest to give them a personalised experience.

The a la carte menu is made up of small plates, the chargrilled meats and fish, curry & biryani, all to go with the classic dal, roti, naan, rice, chutneys and raita. The dishes are packed full of flavour and are designed to be shared, to encourage guests to try dishes from all over the menu.

To complement the food, Kahani boasts a top-notch cocktail and wine list. The cocktails are infused with Indian flavours, and consumers can use the help of the wine sommelier to choose the best wine to complement their meal.

Kahani also has an irresistible Bottomless Brunch offering for those who love Indian food and want to slip it down with delicious prosecco. The food menu comprises three courses for just £38, and for only £17 more prosecco lovers can have unlimited fizz on top.

Peter Joseph loves putting together tasting menus as they show Indian food doesn’t have to be all curries and kebabs, so Kahani has a 6 course tasting menu and regularly runs set menus for the likes of Mother’s Day, Easter and to celebrate key festivals such as Holi Festival.

Kahani’s General Manager Shoaib Malik & Head Chef Peter Joseph

The regular tasting menu is for those looking to indulge in a 6-course feast so they can try a huge array of dishes from the menu. For £75 per person, the tasting menu has some of Kahani’s signature dishes, including the spiced chickpeas with sweetened yoghurt, mint, tamarind chutney and papdi, the Smoked Malabar prawns and the Somerset lamp chops.

And to get the full experience, why not get the wine pairings for an additional £55, chosen especially by Kahani’s in-house wine sommelier and paired to perfection. Here are some of our personal highlights from the A La Carte menu at Kahani this season.

Poppadums with tasty chutneys to whet the appetite at the start of the meal.

Seared scallops with star anise coating served with pepper chutney and barley khichdi

Come in for a closer look…

For those with a sweet tooth, we highly recommend the Dessert Platter which can be paired with the excellent Klein Constantia Vin de Constance 2017.

I have frequented this fine establishment with fellow Papapreneurs, work colleagues and also on a romantic date with Mrs Papapreneur. It really does fit any occasion because the food is something you will want to be sharing with those in your life too.

Located in the heart of historical London in Westminster, the family-friendly St Ermin’s Hotel invested over £1.8m during lockdown to create two dedicated Family Suites and convert many of the guest bathrooms into luxurious wet rooms.

The state-of-the-art Family Suites come equipped with teepees, two double beds plus sofa bed, two bathrooms, LED TV entertainment systems and a collection of children’s books and toys.

Designed to keep children entertained and adults reassured, the hotel’s recently launched Kid’s Concierge ‘Buzz the Bee’ has developed a series of family-friendly experiences to suit all ages both inside and outside of the hotel. Guests can also pre-order a variety of essential baby and toddler items for their stay to lighten the packing load.

Inside the hotel, families can watch Buzz and his friends at work making honey at the Bee Hotel on the third floor and children can become secret agents for the day.

On check-in, each child receives their own spy activity book, undertaking a mission to uncover the hotel’s rich espionage history.

Once the clues are cracked, children are awarded a secret spy pass that wins them a special mocktail in the award-winning Caxton Bar, where the real spies used to meet.

Outside of the hotel, Buzz directs families to carefully chosen local places of interest including Peter Pan Gardens in Kensington Gardens, London Transport Museum, Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guard, Natural History Museum, and Hamleys.

Tucked away in a tree-lined courtyard, just a five-minute walk from Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square, the hotel’s kitchen roof garden supplies fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables to the chefs and 350,000 Buckfast bees on the third-floor bee terrace provide the hotel’s honey.

Dinner at Caxton Grill – the hotel restaurant within St Ermin’s – was a relaxed affair with attentive service, tasty food and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Here are some of our favourite dishes on the menu.

Beetroot cured salmon with apple and fennel salad, sour cream, dill and crispbread.

Smoked ham hock and potato cake served with poached egg and mustard sauce.

Confit guinea fowl leg salad served with smoked almonds, white beans and rainbow chard.

Cod with monks beard, mussel, lemon and chive sauce.

Rib-eye steak with braised shallot, barbeque parsnip and red wine jus.

Sea bass marinated in Indian spices served with green beans and pickled mustard dressing.

Potato Dauphinoise was a comforting side dish.

Vegan carrot & cardamom cake served with carrot and orange gel, crispy carrot and carrot sorbet.
